HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!!!
This week’s feature spotlight shines on Raquel Janes!
Her gentle soul and sweet nature make it really easy to be around her. You won’t hear her complain and regardless of what crazy workout may be on the board she welcomes it with a smile and gets it done the best way she can. Thank you for all you do Raquel! Here’s some more about her.
What do you do for a living?
RJ: I am a stay at home Mom and CEO of the Janes household. I have two babies that keep me busy, Dax who is 4 and Lola 8 months. Lola is a Bedlam baby. 🙂  I did CrossFit the entire time I was prego with her.
What was your first CrossFit experience like?
RJ:  I was friends with Jessica and I always saw her Facebook and Instagram CrossFit posts. I really wanted to try it but was so intimidated.  The workouts looked so hard and everyone was so strong and in great shape,  but what I loved is that everyone seemed like family at Bedlam. So I reached out to her and decided to give it a try.  I was SO scared but it turned out to be a great experience.  Everyone was so nice and made me feel so comfortable.  The WOD  was a tough one but I survived and couldn’t wait to go back. The intense workout and friendly coaches and members hooked me.
How has it changed your life? (if at all)
RJ: CrossFit has made working out fun for me again. I don’t dread going to the gym anymore. It’s challenging, always something different, and there is always something to improve on. Plus it has made me stronger and pushed me to do things I never thought I could do. Also not working and being home all day with my babies I don’t get much me time or adult interaction and CrossFit gives me that. And…I have gained a second family and made some awesome friendships!
What is your favorite movement and why?
RJ: Wall Balls.  I love that that they work your arms, abs, back, and legs at the same time.
What else do like to do when you’re not in the gym?
RJ: I love spending time with my family and friends, watching my son play sports, and running.
What piece of advice would you give to someone who is thinking about starting CrossFit for the first time?
RJ: To give it a try, I guarantee you will love it! CrossFit is for all fitness levels and you can always modify.  It is so much more than how much weight you can lift. The intense workouts are great but the encouraging and positive coaches, members (family), and community are what keep you going back.
